Operation Lilly – 24 people charged with shop theft offences

OPERATION LILLY – WEEK THREE

Operation Lilly is now into its third week and the results are looking good.

Over the last two weeks 18 images have been released to the media, of which six of those people have been identified as a direct result of people calling the police.

In the last week four independent calls were made to the police identifying one particular person who was captured in one of last weeks CCTV images, and two further anonymous calls were made identifying another two people seen in the CCTV images released last week.

A further six images have been released this week with the hope of members of the public identifying them.

Detective Sergeant Mark Ormiston said: “We are now in week three of Operation Lilly and in total we have charged 24 people with shop theft offences, of those 19 were remanded into custody awaiting court, two were cautioned, two were given an £80 fixed penalty notice and one person has been circulated as wanted and will be charged when he is located.”

“I am really pleased with the results so far. What is more exciting is my officers are now ‘arrest ready’ to lock up a further nine alleged shop thieves who are known to be ‘career criminals’. I would strongly suggest if anyone has recently stolen anything from a retail outlet, to come forward, it is quite possible your photo will be released next week and to save you the embarrassment hand yourself in.”

Week Threes CCTV Images - If anyone recognises any of the people featured in the images, please ring HUMBERSIDE POLICE on 101, quoting ‘Operation Lilly’ and the crime reference number (eg: CS/1919183/12) associated with each image.
