EASINGTON UNITED AFC have appointed their new First Team Manager, writes Rich Lusmore, – and he’s no stranger to the role!

Sean McLaughlin, aka ‘The Sumo’ has been confirmed as the Club’s new manager – six years after he last performed the role.

During his first period in charge, ‘The Sumo’ led the Eastenders to two top three finishes in the Humber Premier League. In 2003/04 he also combined runners-up spot in the league with a silverware triple-haul of League Cup, South Holderness Cup and the Withernsea Carnival’s Dave Iley Memorial Trophy.

The new manager will be assisted by former club captain Andy Graham, with Player/Coach Mike Nicholson completing the set-up.

The club has also confirmed Gavin Thurkettle and Dave Gatti as the new men in charge of the Reserves team, while Daniel Campbell succeeds Iain McNaught as manager of the Casuals (Third Team).

The appointments come days before the commencement of pre-season training, which kicks-off at Low Farm on Saturday, July 7 at 1pm.
