Police and Crime Commissioner Candidate and Agent Briefings

POTENTIAL CANDIDATES and their agents for the Police and Crime Commissioner Elections, which will be held on Thursday, 15th November 2012, are invited to attend a pre-nomination briefing on Tuesday 18th September, at 6pm.

Information at the briefing will cover a number of issues, including key dates in the election timetable, the nomination process, postal vote procedures, including attendance at postal vote opening events, the day of the poll, verifying and counting of votes and candidate expenses rules. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions about the elections.

The briefing will be held at County Hall, Cross Street, Beverley.

Potential candidates and agents interested in attending should contact Jane Stewart, in democratic services at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, on 01482 393204 or email jane.stewart@eastriding.gov.uk by Friday 14th September.

So far HU12 Online is aware of seven possible candidates for the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner. They are:

  • John Prescott, Labour
  • Mathew Grove, Conservative
  • Paul Davison, Independent
  • Walter Sweeney, Independent
  • Godfrey Bloom, UKIP
  • Neil Eyre, Independent
  • Simone Butterworth, Liberal Democrat

The deadline for nomination of Candidates is 12:00 noon on Friday 19th October 2012.

Election Day is on Thursday 15th November 2012.

HU12 Online hopes to sponsor a ‘Question Time’ debate between the candidates in Hedon during October. More information to follow.

    Simone Butterworth has been declared as a candidate for the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner, representing the Liberal Democrats.
