KEVAN HOUGH – THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY CANDIDATE
Kevan says :
VOTE CONSERVATIVE KEVAN HOUGH On MAY 3rd
If elected I will be part of the team of Conservative Councillors in South East Holderness, along with Jackie Cracknell and Arthur Hodgson. Being part of a strong team fighting for local people gives our area a big advantage as the team can cooperate to get more things done.
People who know me will tell you that I work hard for the community, not only as a town councillor but as a member of other community groups. I am not afraid to stand up for South East Holderness, but I am also a great networker. I have found that this approach pays dividends and that people are even more likely to listen when I dig my heels in.
I have been actively involved as a Board member of the Withernsea & South East Holderness Regeneration Partnership, the Neighbourhood Action Team, the Adventure Playground and the Holderness Flood Defence Group.
I have been working with The Regeneration Partnership on a number of projects which are about to bear fruit. Building work will start soon on the Commercial Fishing Compound. Central Queen Street refurbishments will start in the autumn. European money has been secured for a new launch ramp and we are presently looking for match funding. This project gives us the potential of extending our Blue Flag beach. A Neighbourhood Renewal Scheme is in the process of being developed and at present has £1 million granted. We are working to lever in more funding for this scheme. This will help people with energy costs and improve the housing stock so that they can live in better properties.
About four years ago I submitted a proposal for a Lobster Hatchery modelled on The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow. The Regeneration Partnership has taken the idea on and East Riding of Yorkshire Council is keen to ensure that the project is delivered in our area. Next we will be starting up a new project to improve the South Promenade. I firmly believe that Withernsea Promenade could easily be the best on the east coast given a relatively small amount of investment.
I am currently working on a funding bid for the equipping and refurbishment of The Meridian Centre for Withernsea Town Council. I am also writing an outline bid for a project on South Promenade to encourage water sports users to come to our area.
Having been involved in the campaign to save Withernsea Hospital, I was pleased to hear that the number of beds has recently been increased from 12 to 16, although I was saddened to hear that Hornsea has lost all theirs. I would like to see the Minor Injuries Unit open for longer hours and The Withernsea Health Forum continues to press for this.
You can trust me to continue to work hard for the community. Please help me to do this even more effectively by giving me your vote on May 3rd.
