Facebook Group to campaign on Preston traffic safety issues

May 1, 2012 Filled under Campaigns, Community, Preston, Preston Traffic

A PRESTON RESIDENT has established a Facebook Group to galvanise support for the village campaign against the heavy goods vehicles route through the village and the other associated traffic problems it brings.

John Hockless is a tireless campaigner against what he insists are dangerous traffic flows through Preston. He has regularly published photographs on Facebook of the congested heavy goods traffic and the narrow pavements which when combined cause fear amongst some pedestrians and other motorists.

John recently launched a petition which has been placed in the village shops, businesses and community buildings. But in his latest move John hopes to capture more evidence, collect more photos, comments and opinions from other Facebook users concerned about the dangerous traffic.

John is asking people to join the group and have their say about the long-standing issue. Unlike a Facebook Page which anyone can ‘like’ to join , people have to positively request to join a Facebook Group. So the number of people joining the group should clearly demonstrate the support that the Preston Traffic campaign has in the online community.

To join the Facebook Group search for Preston, the village on the social networking site and click Ask to Join the Group.
