Father Christmas – Just about everywhere over the weekend!
| December 10, 2012 | Filled under Community, Hedon, Paull, Preston, South West Holderness, Thorngumbald |
SANTA CLAUS – or more traditionally ‘Father Christmas’ to us Brits – is certainly a well-travelled figure in Holderness! We caught up with the mythical chap in four places in South Holderness over the weekend, and he was probably everywhere else as well!

Santa with Elves Pippa and Jacob at The Children’s Hut, Hedon
Santa was the star attraction at The Children’s Hut in Hedon on Saturday morning where he was eagerly supported in meeting children by helpful elves Pippa and Jacob. Manager at The Hut Elaine Houldridge told us that Santa had been kept very busy as parents arrived with children of all ages. Older children kept themselves busy making Christmas art.

Santa’s Grotto at Preston Community Hall
Preston was the next Grotto on our Santa tour. The jolly chap was helping Hedon Rangers under sevens Football Team and the Preston Playing Field Charity raise funds at the Community Hall. Santa is pictured here with his helper Katie Smith, who along with Alex Hinkins and Lynzi Tessyman had helped organise the “It’s all about the bauble!” event.

Father Christmas at St Andrew Church, Paull – Photo by Dianne Davies
Children who had been helping decorate the Christmas tree at St Andrew Church in Paull on Sunday received a nice surprise when Father Christmas arrived to say ‘Thank You’. Each child got a small present. Father Christmas is pictured here giving out his gifts to the children.

Pride of Holderness Lions and Father Christmas at the Lions Christmas Fayre in Thorngumbald
Thorngumbald Village Hall was the next stop for Father Christmas. He had lots of helpers at the Lions Craft Fayre, with a whole pride of Holderness Lions to make sure that he and his young visitors had a nice time.
It is absolutely amazing that Santa can be in so many places at the same time! But that surely is the magic that is Father Christmas!
