TWO MORE DAYS OF STRIKE ACTION will take place today and tomorrow (6th and 7th September 2012) at Cranswick Country Foods by GMB Union members protesting over pay cuts.
The Union says there will be talks between Cranswick Country Foods and GMB officers and shop stewards at 11am today in the factory in Preston, but this will be as GMB members employed by company take further strike action.
Dave Oglesby, GMB Regional Officer, said “GMB and our members hope that the talks with the company will be meaningful so as to resolve this dispute. To demonstrate to the management how serious this issue is to GMB members there will be two further days of strike action on Thursday, as the talks get underway, and on Friday as the next stage in this dispute.
These GMB members now face a wage cut of more than 20% even though they have not had a pay rise for eight years, a period during which the RPI increased by 42%. These levels of cuts in living standards are simply not tolerable nor economically justified. GMB members are totally dissatisfied with the way they were being treated by the company.”
80 GMB members, took the first day of strike action last month (Wednesday 29th August).
