Thorngumbald Parish History Day 2012

March 15, 2012 Filled under Camerton, History, Ryehill, Thorngumbald
2 Comments

THORNGUMBALD PARISH COUNCIL is having a History Day on Saturday, 26th May 2012 from 10 am until 4 pm.

A tree planting will start the day to celebrate one family’s 750 year association with the village. Then displays will be opened which will exhibit historical photos and maps which will highlight the strong agricultural traditions of Thorngumbald, Camerton and Ryehill.

Most of the display exhibits have been donated by Mr George Sidney Skeggs who is the author of the book: Thorngumbald: That Village Yon Side of Hedon

The local Primary School pupils will get involved too; they will be able to enter a competition to design a new crest for the Parish Council. There are two competitions; for the 5 – 8 year olds, and the 9 – 11 year olds. A prize will be presented to the winner of each group on behalf of the Parish Council.

You can find out more information by visiting the Parish Council Website:
